A graffiti of Camilo Catrillanca on the apartheid wall in Palestine goes viral

November 30, 2018

Last Friday, a picture was released showing the Palestinian side of the Israeli wall with the inscription "Free Wallmapu", together with the face of Camilo Catrillanca, a Mapuche community member who was recently killed by police forces in the Chilean Araucanía region, and with his date of birth and death. Also, the sentece "The right to live in peace" was written above his face, in clear allusion to the famous song by the Chilean singer-songwriter, Víctor Jara.
The piece of concrete, condemned worldwide including the International Criminal Court (CPJ), is located in Bethlehem, West Bank. A few meters away one can see the face of Ahed Tamimi, the young palestinian woman who is known for resisting an Isreali soldier, for which she had to spent eight months as a political prisoner in Israel. One can see other images alluding freedom and the struggle against oppression. Source: Palestinian Community of Chile.
